Burlington, Vermont – The Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center has received a set of three Boating Infrastructure Grants totaling $193,000 from the US Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The grants are funded annually by marine fuel tax revenues and are issued to each state to fund new or improved boating facilities to serve the boating public. The grants, administered by the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife, will fund approximately 65% of the cost of a new 335 ft. floating wave attenuator and repairs to the Community Sailing Center’s dock system. When completed in May, the Center will provide approximately fourteen transient spaces at its dock and on designated moorings protected by the new wave attenuator. The docks will be managed by Burlington’s Department of Parks & Recreation. Boaters wishing to dock at the Center will do so under the direction of Burlington’s Harbormaster.
The Community Sailing Center is a community based non-profit organization that operates on Burlington’s waterfront offering educational and recreational programming for all people. Our mission is to encourage and celebrate the responsible use and long-term stewardship of Lake Champlain by fostering education, recreation and growth in the community around us.
