The Community Sailing Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to making sailing and Lake Champlain available to everyone. The Sailing Center has employment and volunteer opportunities in many facets of its daily sailing operation.
Sailing Instructors
Full time and Part time positions
The classes and services offered at the sailing center are incredibly diverse. We seek the same diversity in our instructional staff. Offerings ranging from at risk youth to adult beginning sailing require a wide variety of skills both on and off the water. Instructors must be team oriented, flexible and possess excellent organizational skills.
Qualifications:
- Over the age of 18
- A US Certified Sailing Instructor (Level 1 minimum)
- Comfortable handling money, phones and other administrative tasks
- Willing to face maintenance and facility work
- Safety Conscious
- Enthusiastic, able and confident
- Looking forward to a great summer working in a COMMUNITY SAILING environment
Waterfront Manager
Full time position
Candidates must be organized, enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible in scheduling and possess excellent oral communication skills. Ability to train new hires and delegate duties. Customer service experience and an understanding of boating helpful. An outgoing, friendly personality and the ability to multitask are essential. This is a fun and often fast paced job.
Waterfront Coordinator
Full time and Part time positions
Waterfront Coordinators are extremely important in keeping the daily operations running smoothly. They are responsible for the daily management and coordination of all Sailing Center activities. WCs are often the first point of contact for renters, students, clients and others when they visit our facility. They maintain the daily log, monitor the weather, and coordinate our rental program.
Qualifications:
- Customer service oriented
- Availability in evenings and weekends a must
- Comfortable handling money, phones and other administrative tasks
- Energetic and Enthusiastic
- Boating experience preferred.
Maintenance Coordinator
Primary responsibility is repair and maintenance of Center's fleet. Skills needed include fiberglass preparation & repair and seasonal commissioning & decommissioning of small sailboats, paddle craft and powerboats, general carpentry and dock repair, mooring set-ups (installation and maintenance), regular inspection and maintenance of outboard motors (changing oil, filter and plugs, etc.), basic marine electronics troubleshooting. Position demands ability to organize tasks and complete them efficiently to meet Center's seasonal opening and closing schedules. Candidate should also be comfortable in work environment where creativity and flexibility are necessary and needs change with the weather.
